East Face Headstone

| Large sandstone headstone mounted on a sandstone base (84 x 31 x 11 cm high). The SW corner of base has flaked off. Headstone is 135 cm high x 58 cm W x 9 cm thick. Stone has horizontal break near base that has been repaired. Stone top shaped like a shingled house (maybe symbolic house of God). E face of stone has flower/leaf motif 4 on each side under roof (in relief). Center top E face has a broken rosebud and unbloomed carnation both broken coming from same stem plus 3 leaves of rosebud (holy trinity). Rosebud=child, unbloomed carnation=woman who never matured to old age. On either side of flower motif is trifoil pattern (holy trinity). Inscriptions below is incised letters are worn but still visible. Bottom East W side of stone has green mold, stone has no large chunks missing and appears is fairly good shape. | |||
